SHANNON SPEAKS, LISW-S
Guess what my top priority is? To create a safe and compassionate space for YOU to show up as your authentic self! Through years of experience and personal practice, I have learned that you are more likely to do that if I too am being my authentic self.
With over three decades of professional work in long-term care, hospice, and outpatient oncology, I have supported individuals through challenging transitions, including grief/loss, chronic illness, and terminal illness.
As a caregiver, I understand the tendency to focus on others at the expense of our own health and wellbeing. By embracing self-compassion, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I have learned to balance caring for others with caring for myself as well.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Kent State University, which helps me honor the whole person with innovative, evidence-based interventions. My Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University has equipped me to work as a social worker who comprehends the complex systems that influence our lives.
As a social worker and human, I am committed to social justice. I believe that Black Lives Matter and am a dedicated ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based.
Healing and growing isn’t easy work. You are not alone. Acknowledging YOU for taking steps to take care of your whole self.
